The golden week of the Spring Festival in Sanya saw the citywide total value of consumer goods sales hit 380 million yuan between January 1st and February 6th, an increase of 20.8% over last year’s Spring Festival sales.

Sales of garments, home appliances, jewelry and Hainan specialties soared during the holidays.

The prices on daily necessities stayed steady, as there was a sufficient supply to meet the demand.

Many shopping malls launched sales and promotions to lure customers. The sales at Summer Mall and Fuluckdo Supermarket were up 20% year on year.

One of the highlights during the holiday consumption boom belonged to the Sanya Duty-free Shop. Duty-free purchases at the shop totalled 140 million yuan, up 4.37% over the same period last year
