Self-driving tours in Sanya soar during the 2014 Chinese New Year holiday.
 
The number of tourists visiting Sanya’s scenic spots continues to surge as the festival progresses, causing many well-known sites to be packed with crowds.

On Feb 4, hotels in Sanya maintained an average occupancy rate of over 80%, data from the Sanya Holiday Tourism Office showed.

In-depth tours, short-distance tours, rural tours, self-driving tours and wedding and honeymoon tours have been highlighted during the weeklong holiday period.

Sanya has become one of the popular tourist destinations for tourists driving themselves and most of the tourists had driven from Shanxi, Heilongjiang, Guangdong, Sichuan, Guangxi and Liaoning.

Local authorities have also organized a number of culture-themed campaigns to improve its attractiveness, such as Art Sanya Festival in Yalong Bay, Haitang Bay Flower Blooming Festival and Spring Festival Temple Fair at the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone.
