Haikou to build Nanhai Pearl artificial island in Haikou Bay
According to the Haikou Municipal Government, the government has proposed a plan to build a 265-hectare Nanhai Pearl artificial island off the coastal area of Haikou Bay.
The development projects of the Nanhai Pearl Artificial Island include an international cruise homeport, a base for yachts, a commercial street, an ocean theme park, a water sports base and a small number of entertainment services.
The planned construction period for the project will last five years, from 2014 to 2018, involving a total sea reclamation area of 459 hectares.
The project is said to be of great significance to enhancing the comprehensive competitiveness of Haikou Port and stepping up Hainan’s regional economic development
