Haikou to build Xiuying port as international cruise homeport
The South Chinese port, Haikou on the island of Hainan, is adjusting its port structure and plans to build Xiuying port as an international cruise homeport.
Haikou port is planned to be divided into three port areas. The Xinhai port area is going to handle car ferry business, and most of the passenger transportation within Hainan, the Xiuying port area will be developed as an international cruise homeport and the base for yachts, while the Macun port area will be in charge of bulk and container handling.
Haikou, the capital city of Hainan province, aims at getting more than 10.3m overnight visitors this year, an increase of 9% year-on-year.
