Monitoring statistics showed that on average there were more than 2,000 negative oxygen ions per cubic centimeters within the monitoring areas in December 2013, the air is very pure.
 
On January 23rd 2014, the Sanya Municipal Meteorological Bureau, jointly with the Sanya Land Environment & Resources Department, released the monitoring data of levels of negative oxygen ions and PM 2.5 pollution particles to the public through a weather alert SMS message service platform for the first time.

As of December 31st 2013, the Sanya Municipal Meteorological Bureau had established six negative oxygen ions monitoring stations in: Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park, Ganza Ridge Natural Reserve, Luhuitou State Guesthouse & Resort, West Islet, Tianhaijiao and Liu-Dao Ling ridge, with all of the monitoring data being updated every minute.
