In order to solve the difficulty of catching a taxi in Sanya downtown during the city’s travel peak season, a total of 1,850 taxis in Sanya, including the 200 existing radio taxis, will all offer the taxi radio service and are expected to be put into service before the 2014 Spring Festival.

In addition, nearly 100 buses and 1,133 taxis in the city have installed the intelligent vehicle terminal as of now, and all of the buses and taxis in Sanya are expected to be included into the intelligent public traffic system (IPTS) before the 2014 Chinese New Year Holiday, aiming to improve the level of public transportation service and management, and to provide passengers and decision makers with up-to-date information about trips and the public transportation network operating conditions, according to the Sanya Intelligent Public Traffic Information Center.

Wu Xiaolin, the director of the Vehicle Management Office of the Sanya Municipal Transportation Bureau, said that the travel demands of local residents and tourists in Sanya would be greatly met through increasing the number of the city’s radio taxis and the setting up of the intelligent public traffic regulatory system.
