In order to ease parking difficulties and upgrade the parking order in downtown Sanya, the Sanya government has started to enforce a public parking charge at temporary urban parking lots demarcated in Hexi Road, Hedong Road and Jiefang Road starting 15th January 2014.

Parking charges for each vehicle will be 3 yuan per hour (20 yuan is the maximum fee) from 7:30 to 22:30, and free at other times. Parking for less than 10 minutes will remain free.

According to the scheme, military vehicles, police cars, fire fighting trucks, law enforcement vehicles, emergency ambulances and municipal engineering vehicles will not be charged public parking fees.
