The Sanya waste-to-energy plant, which started construction in June this year, is scheduled to be completed in October 2014.

Located at the Licai Farm, the project is divided into 2 phases. The first phase project is designed to deal with a maximum of 700 tons of household waste per day garbage treatment capacity and the second phase will add 350 tons to 1,050 tons every day.

The whole project will last 18 months and is set to be put into operation next October.

Besides, the preliminary work for the food waste disposal project is underway and will be completed at the end of 2014.

With a highly advanced system, the waste-to-energy plant and food waste disposal project will effectively solve many of the city’s problems, including reducing landfills across the city and put more focus on comprehensive disposal of kitchen waste
