On December 26th, more than 30 archaeological researchers from the Hong Kong Archaeological Society paid a visit to the city of Sanya, aiming to explore the city’s traditional Li brocade culture, which is part of the Li people's important intangible cultural heritage.

In order to give the delegation a thorough understanding of the Hainan Li brocade, the Sanya Folk Museum invited two local Li women, who have mastered traditional Li brocade techniques, to showcase the spinning and weaving skills of the Li brocade on site.

After seeing their techniques, Qiu Licheng, a consultant from the Hong Kong Archaeological Society, remarked, “It is incredible how simple machines can make such beautiful Li brocade products. Modern people should learn and inherit this ancient art.”

In addition, members of the delegation expressed that they were enchanted with the ancient Li people’s production tools and Life utensils which were on display at the Sanya Folk Museum.
