Throughout 2013, the Sanya government launched a variety of measures and promotional campaigns to boost the city’s tourism industry, which brought a rapid increase to the total annual number of tourists.

In June 2013, Sanya kicked off the annual Sanya Special Preferential Summer Tourism Promotion Campaign themed “Cool summer holiday in Sanya”, and then worked together with other counties and cities in Hainan, such as Wanning and Baoting, to organize a strong summer tourism promotion group to introduce the special preferential summer tourism products to over 10 of China’s major cities, including Shijiazhuang, Yinchuan and Zhengzhou as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

Meanwhile, a great number of international competitions and exhibitions took place in Sanya throughout the whole summer, including the Sanya International Visual Arts Festival, thousand people bikini activities, the “Searching for the most beautiful Sanya” photography competition, the Sanya Destination Wedding Expo and the Tianya Haijiao International Wedding Festival

On October 26th 2013, Sanya joined with Wuzhishan, Wanning, Dongfang, Baoting, Ledong and Linghsui to create a city tourism alliance called ‘Big Sanya Tourism Circle’, aiming to share tourism resources and collaborate with each other.

On November 18th, the Sanya Tourism Development Committee established a long-term cooperative relationship with China’s biggest online travel service company, Ctrip.com, to jointly promote Sanya’s tourism products with the theme of "Finding the most beautiful Sanya”.

   
In a bid to further expand the overseas tourist market, the Sanya delegations attended around 10 international tourism exhibitions including ITB Berlin, Moscow Spring International Tourism Exhibition, Ukraine International Tourism Exhibition, Moscow International Leisure Tourism Exhibition, 2013 Sweden China Festival and Cruise Shipping Miami 2013.

A variety of high-end tourism products in Sanya, including Wedding tourism, marine tourism, hot-spring tourism, eco-tourism, golf tourism and folklore tourism were mainly promoted in the above tourism exhibitions.

In 2014, Sanya will continue to participate in various international tourism exhibitions like Arabian Travel Market Exhibition to develop and expand its overseas tourist markets.
