The daily number of tourists visiting Nanshan and Tianyahaijiao reached over 9,000 during the summer holiday in July and August.
  
Under the strong tourism promotion by the Sanya government, Sanya city saw a significant increase in its tourism industry in the first three quarters of this year.

From January to September 2013, Sanya received a total of 8.4659 million overnight visitors, up 10.49 % from the same period of last year, accounting for 33.4% of the whole province, nearly 1.4 million more than the second-place city of Hainan.

During the same period the total tourism revenue generated reached 16.474 billion yuan, up 19.45% from the same period of last year and accounting for 61.82% of the whole province.

In recent years, it has been common in summer for a great many tourists to choose to travel to Sanya thanks to the favorable prices and quotations that are often 30% lower than those of the winter season, and the much lower summer temperatures than many of China’s major cities.
