Sanya’s transportation authority has seized six non-Sanya-registered taxis as of December 19th, part of a-year-long coordinated effort against vehicles that violate traffic rules citywide.

With the city’s development, an increase of taxis that are registered in neighboring cities like Dongfang and Wuzhishan have started stationing in Sanya to serve locals and tourists alike, bringing disorder to the local taxi market.

Traffic authorities will mainly check transportation hubs including major scenic spots, hotels, airports, restaurants, bus stations, ports and hospitals, where most non-Sanya-registered taxis are found.

To curb taxi operation malpractice and crack down on traffic violations, the Sanya Transportation Bureau has set up a 24-hour hotline 0898-88667801 for public complaints.
