Sanya increases subsidies to encourage airlines to expand air network
The Sanya government on Wednesday unveiled plans to increase subsidies to encourage airlines to expand their flight networks to Sanya in 2014.
The local government started offering financial subsidies in 2006 to boost the airline industry in Sanya. Passenger throughput at the Sanya Phoenix International Airport is close to 12.7 million so far this year. The financial subsidies for airline companies has risen from the original budget of 1.43 million Yuan to 210 million Yuan currently.
As for the international airline market, especially the Southeast Asian market, the Sanya International Phoenix Airport has allocated a special direct subsidy since 2013 to airlines companies that operate flights on Southeast Asian routes.
According to the new standards, regular flights by airlines companies between Southeast Asian regions and Sanya in 2014 will receive a subsidy of 50,000 Yuan for each landing in addition to the previous basic international financial subsidies.
