Sanya tops China’s destinations for escaping smog on New Year holiday
This winter, as most of regions in China are experiencing severe smog due to the air pollution, many people in these smog-covered cities are choosing to travel to escape the haze.
With its great air quality and warm winter climate, Sanya ranks 1st among the top ten popular domestic destinations for the 2014 New Year holiday, followed by Xiamen, Harbin, Lijiang, Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai, Chengdu, Changbai Mountain and Xishuangbanna, according to Ctrip.com.
More than 60% of customers on Ctrip.com choose to take the two days off to enjoy a six-day patchwork holiday with New Year holidays and weekend days, which they call a ‘small Golden Week’, with December 28th and 29th being the hottest travel period.
Many scenic spots in Sanya, including Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park, Yanoda Rainforest Cultural Tourism Zone and Dongtian Park, are launching various tour packages in order to lure travelers, which emphasize the great air quality without increased prices.
