A survey jointly conducted by the Asia Pacific Environmental Protection Association, the China Institute of City Competitiveness, the China Travel Media Alliance and other institutions showed that Sanya ranks 2nd following Xishuangbanna on the top 10 list of best winter escape travel destinations in China.

The rankings are based on several indicators, including weather conditions, landscape diversity, eco-environmental advantages, infrastructure and supporting facilities, rich cultural activities and public reputations.

As a seaside tourist destination, Sanya has attracted a large number of tourists to escape the coldness in mainland China and enjoy the sunshine during the winter season.
