Following the attendance of the 2013 Sino-Africa Cooperation Roundtable Conference held in Wanning, a high-level delegation from Namibia, which was headed by the former president Sam Nujoma, paid a visit to Sanya on Thursday.

The purpose of the visit was to hold talks with officials on strengthening economic, trade and tourism ties between the two cities.

Mayor Wang Yong gave a brief introduction to Sanya’s city development and also mentioned that Sanya has been actively improving its image as an international tourist city by hosting a series of international sports and cultural events. He also pointed out that under the banner of tourism lies many more possibilities leading to a bright future of cooperation between the cities.

He also expressed his hope that sister city ties will be forged between the two cities in the near future, which will bring forth significant benefits for Sanya in the fields of economy, trade and tourism, and improve bilateral relationships between Namibia and China.
