Sanya Duty-free Shop are embracing a boom as the number of tourists visiting the city has surged since Hainan entered its winter tourism peak season.

Local authorities say the number of tourists from the northern parts of the country have been climbing significantly as weather in these regions has dropped sharply recently, and as people in these regions are suffering worsening air pollution seeking an escape to Sanya and other tourist spots.

As a response to the rise in tourism, Sanya Duty-free Shop has launched a series of special offers to lure visitors, offering luxury goods from over 100 companies.

Hainan has always been a preferred destination for winter holiday thanks to its fresh air, clean water and pleasant climate. According to figures released, Hainan has recorded 99% of days with good air quality so far this year.
