Typhoon Haiyan left 3 dead in Sanya and Ledong

At least 3 people in Sanya and Ledong were killed, and nearly half a million affected, as Typhoon Haiyan lashed the region on Sunday 10th November.

The provincial civil affairs department said a man of around 30 died after being hit by a falling billboard blown down by strong winds, and a construction worker at Ledong’s Jiusuo town was killed when a falling glass struck the 27-year-old man’s head.

At 5:30PM Sunday, another man, aged 50, was killed after a concrete wall was brought down by strong winds.

Haiyan, the 30th and strongest typhoon to hit China this year, made landfall in Hainan Province on Sunday afternoon, after wreaking severe havoc in the Philippines.
