Sanya residents venturing beyond their doors at night on 17th and 22nd November may see the bright tail of a meteor streaking across the desert sky, according to recent reports.

The Leonid Meteor Shower will reach its peak in the early evening on 17th November and at midnight on 18th November.

Meanwhile, at the greatest western elongation Mercury can be seen low in the eastern sky before dawn on 18th November.

The Alpha Monocerotids will peak at midnight 22th November. Only 10 meteors an hour at maximum will make an appearance.

In addition, a bright comet will appear from the eastern horizon in the early morning 28th November.
