People call for protection of wild macaques at Sanya’s Luhuitou Peninsula
On October 27th, several travelers found about eight little wild macaque monkeys in the mountain stream of Sanya Luhuitou mountain, and many local people call on relevant government department and tourists in Sanya to protect them.
Mr. Chen, a Li person living in the Luhuitou mountain, said that the site has been always in a good ecological condition, so it’s not surprising that travelers found wild macaques here, and he hoped that the Sanya government could provide effective protection for these lovely monkeys.
According to Lin Guisheng, the head of the Wild Animal Protection Station of Sanya Forestry Administration, the Luhuitou peninsula is situated close to the Huoling Nature Reserve on the west side of Dadonghai beach, a natural habitat for nearly one hundred macaques, and the forest region where travelers found macaques has been included in the ecological non-commercial forest.
