Sanya recently kicked off a campaign to crackdown on illegal marine tourism activities across the city, in a move to regulate the marine tourism market during the upcoming tourism peak season.

The campaign, jointly launched by Sanya tourism department, marine department, safety supervision department and other relevant departments focuses on marine tourism activities including diving, motorboating and yachting.

Local authorities say illegal diving and motorboating activities pose safety risks to tourists and disturb the city’s marine tourism market. The campaign aims to create a safe tourism environment for tourists and ensure market order.

According to reports, the crackdown will last from 26th October, 2013 to 26th February, 2014. Regular inspections will be carried out during the period.
