Recently, the protection and utilization planning for more than 190,000 hectares of forest land in Sanya (2010-2020) has been approved at an executive meeting of the Sanya Municipal Government.

Based on the ecological vulnerabilities, locations, productive capacity and the other relative conservation standards, the forest land in Sanya was divided into 4 conservation gradings.

According to the planning, the mountains and hills located north of Sanya city are the natural forest conservation areas, accounting for 23.37% of Sanya’s total land area.

The tropical high efficient forestry operation areas including the plains and tablelands in central Sanya account for 58.14% of the city’s total land area.

The shelter forests and mangrove wetland ecosystem restoration region along the southern coast of Sanya account for 18.49% of the city’s total land area.
