To attract more domestic and international airline companies to open new flight routes to and from Haikou, the local government this year is launching a new subsidy scheme to encourage the airlines to open more flight routes during the winter and spring schedule.

Domestic airlines companies that are currently running regular direct flights between Haikou and major tourist sources cities will receive a subsidy of 5,000 yuan for each additional flight.

Besides, a subsidy of 15,000 yuan will be provided for direct flights between Haikou and major tourist source cities by domestic airline companies for each landing and take-off between 8:00am and 8:00pm.

A subsidy of 15,000 yuan will be available for flights on new routes run by domestic airline companies for each landing in the first year. In addition, each newly registered large aircraft at the airport (with 150 seats or more) will receive a subsidy of 3 million yuan.

At present, Haikou Meilan Airport has 169 domestic and international air routes to 95 destinations.
