Kerzner International, the hotel group that operates a call center in Florida, is adding a third Atlantis mega-resort – this time in China.

China’s non-state Fosun International plans to start construction on the 62-acre Atlantis Sanya property on Hainan island in the South China Sea later this year and to complete the resort in 2016.

Plans call for 1,300 rooms, aquariums, water parks, a dolphin interaction center, restaurants, sports facilities and more. The water-themed resort is expected to employ 3,500 people from marine biologists to chefs and event planners, media reports said.

The China mega-resort will join the roughly 2,300-room Atlantis in the Bahamas and roughly 1,500-room Atlantis in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Both of those projects cost more than $1 billion to develop.

Kerzner International, launched by South African entrepreneur Sol Kerzner in the 1960s, operates the Atlantis brand, seven other luxury resorts in Mexico, the Maldives and elsewhere, plus a 500-room casino resort in Morocco. The company has a call center in Plantation in South Florida.
