Since 8 years ago, there have been many unlicensed tour ships and yachts operating illegally in Sanya Bay even though the local governments have made enormous efforts to crack down on them.

This is largely due to the fact that unlicensed tour ships and yachts can offer tourists much lower tour prices than regular yacht companies. Compared to some yacht companies, which charge 260 yuan per person and 200 yuan for group purchasing per tour, the price for unlicensed tour ships and yachts is only around 80 yuan per person due to their extremely low operation costs and lack of rescue services.

Since these unlicensed tour ships and yachts do not issue any service vouchers to ensure consumer’s rights and interests, their drivers usually don’t have professional yacht driving training and most of them lack of sea rescue knowledge, the life safety of tourists using their services cannot be guaranteed.

Local authorities in Sanya have been warning travelers of the dangers of unlicensed tour ships and yachts in recent years out of concern for travelers’ safety.
