Sanya created 23,884 acres of afforested areas by Sep 30th in 2013
According to Sanya Forestry Bureau, a total of 23,884 acres of afforested areas have been built in Sanya by September 30th in 2013, which accounted for 89.4% of the total planned afforested areas of the year.
According to the Sanya ‘Greening Hainan’ project plan, a total of 26,700 acres of afforested areas are planned to be created in 2013, including 4,218 acres in passageways, 2,100 in coastal shelter belts, 3,400 in villages, 750 along rivers and reservoirs, as well as 3,932 acres of urban forest and 12,300 acres of ecological economic forest.
Officials from the Forestry Bureau said that they will continue to advance the ‘Greening Hainan’ project and further increase the forest coverage rate of Sanya, they will focus on the greening project for Hainan West and East Ring highways and G98 Hainan Ring Expressway and national roads.
