Sanya’s Baoping Village to rebuild the most southern Matsu temple in China
Baoping, an ancient village in Sanya, recently started the reconstruction of the Tianhou Temple.
Initially built in the Yuan Dynasty, the Tianhou Temple in Baoping is one of the most ancient Matsu temples in Hainan, and the most southern Matsu temple in the country.
Blessed with nice scenery and rich cultural heritage, Baoping was listed as one of the Top Ten Cultural Villages in Hainan in 2008, and was later recognized as a national historical and cultural village in 2010.
Li Fabiao, president of Hainan Matsu Cultural Exchange Association, said, as a world intangible cultural heritage, the Matsu culture is an important part of Chinese traditional culture. The Tianhou Temple is expected to become a new tourism attraction and boost local tourism after completion.
