Experts have called for Sanya to open South China’s cruise routes during the 2013 Hainan Cruise & Yacht Industry Development Summit, which kicked off on 11th October.

According to Wan Wanmao, CEO of Sayna Phoenix Island International Cruise Terminal Development Co.,Ltd, 2-day or 3-day cruise trips are currently most welcomed for Sanya-homeported cruise routes. However, a 3-day itinerary woud only allow a cruise ship to reach neighboring countries such as Vietnam, which offer limited appeal to holidaymakers.

Wan said that a recent market survey indicated that the South China sea, which boasts excellent scenery, fresh air, and is far away from land, has become the most desired destination for 2-day or 3-day cruise itineraries.

The opening of South China Sea cruise routes will not only bring considerable tourism revenue to Sanya, but also drive the city’s cruise tourism industry in the long run, Wan said.
