Sanya cultural and sports department recently launched a crackdown on illegal tourism sea sports businesses across the city.

Three unlicensed diving businesses were punished and ordered to close for restructuring during a crackdown jointly launched by Sanya Cultural and Sports Bureau and Sanya marine department during the National Day holiday.

In addition, a number of motorboating businesses were also punished over illegal operations.

Local authorities say illegal diving and motorboating businesses have long posed safety risks to tourists and disturbed the city’s sea sports tourism market.

More measures will be launched to regulate the city’s tourism sea sports market in the future, local authorities have said.
