According to new regulations introduced by Sanya Cultural and Sports Bureau, diving practitioners across Sanya are now required to be registered and obtain two certificates in order to legally run commercial diving businesses, the Hainan Daily reports.

The move aims to crack down on illegal diving businesses and ensure the safety of tourists.

The two certificates include the professional diving certificate and an operating permit issued by the bureau.

Diving practitioners who are found taking tourists to illegal diving spots will have their permits suspended and be punished in accordance with the law.
