6 cities and counties across Hainan have braced themselves for the heavy rainfall which has been predicted for the first day of the 3-day Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on September 19.

The cities and counties are Sanya, Qionghai, Tunchang, Wanning, Ding’an and Lingshui.

Heavy rains have pounded in Sanya for 4 days this week. In other parts of the province, average precipitation has topped 50mm.

Local weather experts said heavy rain will continue over the next 2 days due to the tropical storm Usagi, which is on the way to becoming one of the strongest typhoons to hit China’s southeastern coastal regions this year.
