The Sanya frontier inspection department launched a marine cleanup campaign on the 13th September as a celebration of the 2013 Clean Up the World Weekend which started on Saturday 14th September.

A group of volunteers consisting of officers and staff from local frontier inspection departments and tourism spots took part in the campaign.

The volunteers removed a total of 3 tonnes of trash and handed out over 500 environment protection leaflets in areas inclduing Tianya,Linwang and Sanya bay.

The Clean Up the World Weekend (CUW Weekend) is an annual environmental campaign which is observed around the world on the 3rd weekend in September each year. It is held together with the UN Environment Programme to inspire and empower communities around the globe to clean up, fix up and conserve their local environment.
