Daniel Blaize, the consul general of the French Consulate in China visited the Sanya Serenity Marina on September 8th, aiming to better understand Sanya’s marine economy and other opportunities for investment.

During the visit, Hua Bin and Li Dingchao, the Executive Director and Vice President of Sanya Serenity Marina respectively, gave a brief introduction to the marina’s facilities and also detailed the preparation work for the Volvo Ocean Race 2014/2015.
Mr. Hua Bin said he hoped that by hosting more events like the Volvo Ocean Race, the sailing and marine cultures in Sanya, Hainan and China would be boosted.

Located at the western edge of the Luhuitou Peninsula, Sanya Serenity Marina is a new marina built to international standards. The marina was chosen as China’s only stopover port for the Volvo Ocean Races of 2011/2012 and 2014/2015.

The marina has 325 full-service berths, and features a comprehensive set of facilities including the Sanya Marina International Sailing Academy which is the first purpose-built sailing school on Hainan Island.

This visit provided a good opportunity for both sides to seek closer cooperation in the sailing and yacht industries.
