Sanya’s planning department is to hold a design planning competition to solicit design solutions from around the world for the reconstruction of the port area in Sanya bay.

According to reports, the organization which wins first place in the competition will be given a reward of 400,000 Yuan.

Officials from local planning department said the competition aims to solicit design solutions for the reconstruction of the port area in Sanya’s Hexi district, which covers around 167.99 hectares.

According to the plans, the area will be reconstructed into the gateway of greater Sanya bay and one of the landmark tourism service centers in Sanya, with facilities including luxury hotels, shopping malls, a culture and art square and a CBD.
