According to the local government, the Sanya Yazhou Central Fishing Port project will see a total investment of 2.73 billion yuan, and is to be built into the largest fishing port in Hainan.

The whole project is divided into three parts including a core area project, supporting infrastructure project and a man-made island project.

The core area project, which covers a water-area of 720 mu, includes 11 kinds of berths and will be able to accommodate 800 boats in the future, and started construction on June 28th 2013 and is expected to be completed in May 2014.

In addition, the man-made island project and infrastructure project are expected to be finished in December 2014, and the supporting infrastructure project will start construction this September.
