Sanya is to fully deploy Bus IC cards city-wide in September after distributing its first 670 Bus IC Cards for trial operations in June, the Sanya Daily Reports.

100,000 Bus IC cards are ready for commuters, who will be able to use them to board buses from 9th September.

According to officials from local commodity price control departments, those who are currently enjoying preferential and subsidy prices for bus tickets in the city are required to apply for the bus IC card if they are to continue enjoying their discounted fares.

Passengers without Bus IC Cards will not be able to enjoy any preferential or subsidy policies on ticket prices.

Bus IC Card reader installation work on more than 600 buses in the city has already been completed.

A total of 200,000 cards are expected to be issued within the year.
