Sanya, along with cities including Xiamen, Kunming, Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing and Shenzhen, has become one of the top destinations for 2013 Mid-autumn Festival Holiday, according to www.qunar.com, the biggest Chinese travel portal.

The results were based on air ticket bookings and online search interest in destinations for the upcoming holiday, according to www.qunar.com.

Qiu Hui, the director of the air tickets sales department of www.qunar,.com said air ticket bookings and online search interest in destinations for the 2013 Mid-autumn Festival Holiday have both surged as the holiday draws near.

Search interest in destinations for the traditional holiday is twice that seen during the 2013 National Day Holiday.

Regarding air ticket prices, Quiu Hui said many popular routes are still offering 30%-50% discounts. Air ticket prices for the 2013 Mid-autumn Festival Holiday are generally half the price of those during the National Day Holiday.
