In order to further improve tour guide service quality, the Sanya government recently issued a Sanya tour guide service regulatory document which has been approved by experts and will be put into effect in October.

According to the document, tour guides are not allowed to offer any tour guide services for tour groups independent of registered travel agencies.

In addition, tour guides are required to arrange tour activities and offer tour services as detailed on the contract signed between travel agencies and tourists, unless the tour groups run into safety issues.

In addition, tour guides are not allowed to force tourists to shop in an attempt to make profit from commission from their purchases or ask for tips.
