The standing committee of the Sanya Municipal Government on Tuesday issued plans for the development of its marine tourism.

According to the plans, the city is to develop its 70 islets including Yezizhou islet, Xiaoqinzhou islet, Dongluo islet and Xiluo Islet, into tourism spots with different themes including underwater adventure, sea sports, honeymoon holiday, ethnic cultures, marine wetland and tropical botanical garden.

Sanya boasts 70 islets. However, only a few of the islets have been developed to date.

According to the plans, the city will include social capital in the development of these islets through means including public auctions and leasing.
