The number of overnight tourists from Taiwan who stayed one night or more in Sanya reached 24, 500 in the first half of 2013, up 5.26% year-on-year, according to the Sanya Tourism Development Commission, making Taiwan the second largest source of inbound tourists for Sanya.

The number of Taiwanese tourists visiting Sanya has been growing at a remarkable pace in the last year thanks to deepened tourism cooperation between Sanya and Taiwan.

The launch of flights between Taiwan and Hainan, operated by Taiwan Far Eastern Air Transport and Trans Asia Airways, also contributed to the growth.

According to Sanya Tourism Development Commission, Sanya is to launch more promotion measures to further develop the Taiwanese tourism market.

Two more travel agencies in Hainan have recently been approved to offer Taiwan tourism services, and the number of travel agencies in the province approved to offer Taiwan tourism services has therefore now hit 5.
