The Municipal Government of Sanya hosted a panel discussion on Monday at Yalong bay Horizon Resort & Spa to discuss the development of Sanya’s tourism industry.

14 experts from the Urban Land Institution (ULI), the party secretary of Sanya Jiang Sixian, and officials from local governmental departments attended the meeting.

Mr.Jiang extended a warm welcome to the experts and expressed a hope that the city would gain constructive suggestions on the development of Sanya’s tourism industry through the event as the government strives to build the city into an international tourism destination.

The panel's discussion was directed by questions from the attending officials on issues including how to improve the city’s competitiveness in the international tourism market, and how to create the image of an international tourism city using sophisticated marketing and promotional strategies.

The panel of experts was made up of members from different countries including three former mayors of Pittsburgh city and the former chief director of the Seoul Unban Development Planning Bureau.
