Helicopters to strengthen Sanya emergency rescue capabilities
Sanya Yalong General Aviation Company, which is the only aviation company licensed to offer low-altitude airspace tourism services in Hainan province, joined the Sanya emergency rescue response system on 8th August.
Three helicopters are stationed in Sanya at present, with 4 pilots licensed to fly them.
Helicopters are commonly used for emergency response and searches worldwide in instances where ambulances and rescue vehicles are not able to reach the scene. The move will greatly strengthen Sanya’s ability to perform emergency rescues, authorities said.
"Sanya's marine tourism has been growing at a fast pace in recent years. However, accidents such as drownings and shipwrecks are frequent occurrences due to strong currents and bad weather. The helicopters may play an irreplaceable role in such cases.” said Shen Xiaoping, the director of the Emergency Office of Sanya.
A license granting ceremony was held on Thursday, followed by emergency rescue response drills jointly organized by the Emergency Office of Sanya and Sanya Yalong General Aviation Company.
