The Sanya Phoenix International Airport to Haikou Section of the Hainan Western Ring High-speed Railway is to start construction in September this year, reports say.

The Hainan Western Ring High-speed Railway, with a total investment of 27.1billion yuan, runs between Sanya and Haikou with a target speed of 200Km/h, and will connect with 12 other cities and counties including Chengmai, Lingao, Danzhou, Changjiang, Dongfang and Ledong.

16 stations will be constructed along the rail line, with a designed annual cargo transport capacity of 10 million tons, and a designed passenger transport capacity of 50 million.

The project will involve the construction of 120 bridges and 14 tunnels, and is expected to be completed in 4 years.

After competition, the rail line will connect with rail lines in the Mainland and will tremendously improve Hainan’s road transport network.
