Sanya sees increase in tourist numbers during summer vacation

Scenic spots and hotels in Sanya have seen a significant increase in tourist numbers during the summer, reports have suggested.

As the summer vacation begins, the daily number of tourists visiting the Sanya Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone has reached around 9,000, most of whom are students. For Yalong Bay Tropical Rain forest Park, the daily number of tourists is around 6,000.

50,509 tourists visited the Sanya Daxiaodongtian tourism zone between the 10th June and 20th July last year, making this year's number of 58,584 a year-on-year increase of 16%.

The Ritz-carton Hotel Sanya has also reported a year-on-year increase of 30% in its room occupancy rate.

According to the Sanya Tourism Development Commission, the increase in tourist numbers is partly owing to the continuous improvements to Sanya’s tourism facilities and a series of tourism promotion campaigns launched in recent years.

In 2007, Sanya launched a tourism promotion campaign with a theme of “Cool Summer In Sanya” as a way to showcase and promote Sanya’s tourism resources. The campaign is planned to be held in the 15 biggest tourist resource cities across the country.
