The Municipal Government of Sanya has announced administrative measures on commodity house leasing in Sanya.

Stricter rental rules were introduced to crack down on illegal practices in house leasing.

According to the new regulations, landlords are banned from subdividing apartments into smaller rooms and renting them out. The kitchen, bathroom, balcony and basement cannot be leased for living purposes.

Landlords or real estate agencies will receive fines of up to 10,000 yuan if caught violating the rules.

Extra rental procedures are now also required before the house leasing permit is issued.
