From January to June 2013, Sanya received 5.9034 million overnight visitors, up 9.22% from the same period of last year, according to a report from Sanya Tourism Development Committee on July 10th.

Among the 5.9034 million overnight visitors were 5.6428 million domestic tourists and 260,600 overseas tourists, generating total tourism revenue of 12.352 billion yuan, up 20.83% from the same period of last year.

In the first half of the year, the number of hotel rooms increased by 14.2% over the same period of last year and the average hotel occupancy rate in Sanya reached 56.97%, down 1.31% compared with last year.

In order to attract more tourists, Sanya is going to focus on the development of high-end and ecological tourism products including yacht tourism, golf tourism, rural tourism, forest tourism and folklore tourism in the second half of 2013.
