Surfing and SUP course held at Dadonghai
Insight Adventures joins forces with the ISA to continue developing the sport and beach culture in China. This week at Dadonghai, the beach is heated with all the surfing activities by ISA first coaching and instructing in China, and the course is conducted together with Insight Adventures.
With consistent waves and great enthusiasm among the local surf scene, a number of the leading surf schools on Hainan Island are preparing for the International Surfing Association (ISA) Level 1 Surf and SUP course. 16 surfers, locals and foreign residents will become the first certified surf instructors officially accredited by the ISA in China.
The International Surfing Association (ISA) is the world’s governing authority for surfing, SUP, bodyboarding and all waveriding activities. The ISA is a non-profit organization recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the International Federation dedicated to the development of these sports worldwide. The ISA is also a member of the Association of Recognized International Sports Federations (ARISF), the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), SportAccord, and the International World Games Association (IWGA).
“I’m very honored and excited to have the ISA and Insight Adventures delivering the first professional surfing and SUP instructor accreditation course on Hainan Island this week,” said ISA President Fernando Aguerre. “Following up on the success of our ISA China Cup and ASP’s Hainan Classic in January in 2012 and 2013, this is another important step in the ISA’s plan to develop surfing and promote the love for the beach and surfing culture in China.”
Jamo Borthwick, from the Gold Coast of Australia, has been assigned the important task of presentIng the course. "I’m really excited to be here in Sanya and assist in the growth of surfing. The course will mark an important step in the development of a professional surf industry in China." Borthwick has over 15 years of training and coaching experience and he owns one of the most well regarded surf schools on the Gold Coast, “Walkin’ on Water Surf School” (walkinonwater.com).
The ISA Level 1 Surf and SUP course covers surf instructors’ duty of care, instructing methods and surfing techniques to safely and responsibly teach and instruct surfers from beginners through to the intermediate level. The course will be held in Dadong Hai, Sanya, from Tuesday, July 9th to Thursday, July 11th. All practical course components will take place on the main beach of Dadonghai.
