Sanya Food and Drug Administration recently announced that Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone has been named the Model Area for Catering Service and Food Safety after a food safety evaluation in restaurants located in the area’s tourist attractions which was launched this April.

Nanshan is the second site to receive the title following Daxiaodongtian Scenic Spot.

To meet the requirements, operators of tourist sites should set up a management institution to ensure the safety of catering services, ban unlicensed businesses and give timely reports on catering services’ business operations to local food safety and tourism authorities.

Besides, the site should not report food safety accidents at or above the level III for three consecutive years and the public satisfaction rate on its catering service and food service should reach above 80%

Since 2012, the site company has invested 6 million yuan into its hardware facilities’ renovation and will set up a kitchen for group catering at the end of this year
