With a total land area of 60 acres, the Sanya Waste-to-energy plant project, converting large volumes of municipal waste into energy, officially started construction on June 15th, and the first phase of the project is expected to be completed in August, 2014.

The first phase project, which is scheduled to be invested 430 million yuan, will have the capacity to burn 700 tons of garbage every day in the short term and the garbage treatment capacity will reach 1,050 tons per day in the long term.

After the completion of the second phase project, the Waste-to-energy plant can process about 400,000 tons of garbage every year. The process can produce up to 144 million KW per hour of electricity.
