Sanya officially started the construction of its food waste disposal project on June 15th. The project is expected to be completed in June, 2014.

With a total investment of 88 million yuan, the Sanya food waste disposal project, which is one of the first batch of 33 food waste disposal pilot projects approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, will have the capacity to treat 100 tons of food waste per day.

After its completion, the food waste disposal project is expected to effectively solve many of the city’s problems, including gutter oil, and better ensure food safety for over 11 million tourists and nearly 700,000 local residents in Sanya.
